At Shop Apotheke we are all about health! Our e-pharmacy serves 7.9 M+ customers across Europe, and we welcome new users every week. We are growing the existing platform and adding entirely new services to it. Our goal is to enable our customers to live their healthiest lives possible.

We are looking for a Principal QA Engineer to join our team at our Cologne/Berlin location (with remote possibilities). Come, build with us!

Your tasks:

  • Ensuring technical excellence: you will be hands-on and will contribute to creating and maintaining a modern test infrastructure. You will design, create and run an integrated test framework that ensures a sound user journey for our 7.9 M users across Europe.
  • Knowledge transfer: you will coordinate and contribute to knowledge sharing and training sessions with the rest of your colleagues from the QA chapter. You will participate in the onboarding of new joiners in the QA team. You will research, discuss and share best practices and tooling. You will advise on and support the implementation of new tools or solutions.
  • Driving software quality for excellent customer experience: you contribute to the overall QA strategy from a technical point of view, making sure it withstands the reality check, by delivering possible implementation solutions.
  • Testing: you take advantage of the possibility to test on multiple levels, such as unit, integration and GUI. Enjoy grappling with new features and know the importance of regression testing. You design and implement automated functional tests for our frontend and backend written with JavaScript and Java.

Your Profile

Your profile:

  • Experience: you have 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance. You have worked within different test infrastructures and know-how to build an educated opinion on new technologies. You have experience in providing technical leadership, such as organizing trainings and technical onboarding.
  • Tech stack: you remain hands-on and you are well versed in test automation frameworks with Java, JavaScript, or Typescript. You have practical experience with tools like Selenium, Cypress, Postman or PAW, Jmeter, RestAssured, CircleCI or Jenkins, and GIT. You continuously improve your know-how and you strive to improve the test infrastructure in your work environment.
  • Team impact: you feel comfortable communicating with colleagues in a cross-functional set-up: not just other QA Engineers, but very importantly Software Engineers, Product Owners, Agile Coaches. You like to speak your mind and act on it. You are OK to fail, and you learn from it.
  • Customer focus: while providing technical guidance and critical feedback, you keep the customer perspective in mind.

Remote work:

We offer the possibility to work from home on a voluntary basis: our offices remain open, but you chose if you work from home or from the office. If you do home-office this means you can work from anywhere within Germany. We have "anchor days" (team get-togethers) on which every team member is required to come to the office that they are assigned to, either Berlin or Cologne. We estimate one or two team get-togethers per month will be held in the future. Currently, due to the pandemic situations, teams do not have in-person anchor days.

Our offer:

  • An agile and outcome-oriented organization, where respect for talent and honest work are fundamental values.
  • Direct communication, respect and a collegial approach are vital points of our code of conduct.
  • We are a diverse, international team, and English is our working language.
  • Your growth helps our growth. We have a training budget dedicated to the engineering team, and it’s up to you to choose what conferences or workshops you spend it on.
  • In case you want to learn German, we support you with free German classes.
  • You can devote 10% of your working time to personal development projects. Be it things that are close to your heart, QA chapter or community tasks, or tackling a problem that you wouldn’t deal with otherwise.
  • For parents, we offer a monthly subsidy for kindergarten.
  • 28 vacation days per year.
  • 10% employee discount on all over the counter and beauty & wellness products in our online store.
